Quest Innovation Fund

The Quest Innovation Fund was designed to foster the growth of Virginia Commonwealth University’s culture of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.

We aim to support innovators, encourage bold thinkers and sponsor risk takers. These activities are an integral part of life at VCU, and proof that “make it real” is not just a tagline for our billboards; it's VCU’s mantra.

Which pool fits your needs?

The Quest Innovation Fund offers two funding pools that reflect important elements of our role in the regional economy and key components of Quest for Distinction:

Commercialization Fund: Supporting Commercialization of Research

The Commercialization Fund: Supporting Commercialization of Research pool provides funding to advance research projects toward commercialization. It is intended to develop VCU inventions to a more mature stage, improving their chances of being out-licensed and brought to market where they can benefit society. Learn about the most recent projects and previous funded projects on our past recipients page.

Applications are now closed. Awardees will be announced the second week of May. Another call for applications will be announced in fall 2018.

Entrepreneurship Fund: Supporting Entrepreneurial Activity

The Entrepreneurship Fund: Supporting Entrepreneurial Activity pool seeks to support and encourage entrepreneurial activity at VCU, including start-up grants, a paid pre-acceleration program and paid start-up internships. Developing students with this agile training is critical to fulfilling future workforce needs and further supports our economy by producing graduates who are job creators as opposed to job seekers. The spring 2017 student cohort has been announced. Learn more about the students and their projects at our past recipients page.
