Implementing the plan
The four themes in Quest for Distinction are the framework upon which Virginia Commonwealth University seeks to pursue our vision as a premier urban, public research university. With the plan’s themes as a guide, the university level initiatives (ULIs) then describe the ways in which that broad vision becomes a reality. The ULIs have an impact on the university as a whole and generally represent:
- High-level university goals that may require multiple years to achieve
- A commitment to cross-division (vice president-level) collaborations that move the strategic plan forward and enable new mechanisms to plan, govern and successfully implement specific strategies
- A formalized presidential charge that outlines expectations, deliverables, accountability and broad time frames
- The intended impact on Quest themes and expected progress toward 2018 targets
